Delve into a past and explore ancient sites of standing stones and Iron Age brochs - close your eyes and try to envision how the earliest of islanders lived. Uncover the tales of feuding clans and visit ruined castles, or visit a thatched roof black house and get an insight into the crofting way of life in the 18th and 19th century.

You could get your island adventure off to a flying start – take a plane and land on the white sands of Traigh Mhor, the world’s only beach airport for scheduled flights, on the enchanting Isle of Barra. 

Get a real taste of the islands and sample Isle of Harris Gin, infused with locally harvested sugar kelp, or perhaps head to the shoreline to meet some of the natives of the Outer Hebrides, which include laidback seals, playful otters and graceful seabirds.

Or why not stay dry as you traverse causeways and pedal along island roads on two wheels following the Hebridean Way, an unforgettable long distance cycling route?
